Understanding gang sheet basics

A DTF gang sheet is a full roll of DTF film with multiple designs arranged to minimize waste. Standard roll widths are 22 inches and 24 inches. Roll length is typically sold in linear feet, with common sheet sizes being 22"×120" (10 feet) or 24"×100".

Gang sheets let you print multiple customer orders, sizes and designs in one print job, spreading setup cost and film price across many transfers. Poor layout wastes expensive film and powder.

Calculating transfer yield per sheet

Measure your design dimensions including required spacing. DTF transfers need 0.25"–0.5" spacing between images to prevent powder cross-contamination. Add this spacing to design width and height.

Divide roll width by (design width + spacing) to get transfers per row. Divide sheet length by (design height + spacing) to get rows per sheet. Multiply to get total yield. Example: 22" roll, 10" wide designs with 0.5" spacing = 22 ÷ 10.5 = 2 per row. For 120" length with 12" tall designs: 120 ÷ 12.5 = 9 rows. Yield = 2 × 9 = 18 transfers per sheet.

Add transfer cost per print + blank garment + heat press labor + packaging + profit margin. If transfer cost is $1.67, blank tee is $3.50, press labor is $2.00, and you target 50% margin, the math is: Cost $7.17, Price = $7.17 ÷ (1 − 0.50 − 0.065 Etsy fee) = $16.50.

Volume discounts apply when customers order multiples of the same design. Your per-transfer cost drops because you gang more copies per sheet. Pass some savings to customer, keep the rest as margin.
