What Sells Best at Craft Fairs

Impulse buys under $25 move. Mid-range $20–$50 pays the booth. A few expensive anchors make the table look real. The mix matters more than copying someone else’s “hot product” list.

Categories that keep showing up

Jewelry (especially earrings), candles and wax melts, soap and bath bits, seasonal ornaments, stickers, small pottery, and personalized wood or vinyl gifts. Food belongs at markets that allow it and match cottage-food rules.

Match the event, not the internet

A free park fair buys $8 stickers. A juried winter market buys $48 candles. Holiday shows want giftable, packed, grab-and-go. Summer art fairs tolerate higher prices if the work looks like art, not leftover inventory.

Price the booth like a product

Booth fee, fuel, food, card fees and your hours are overhead on every sale. An item that “always sells” at a $4 profit can still lose the weekend.

If candles are your mid-ticket, cost one jar with the candle making cost calculator, then see how many you need to cover the booth. Open Candle Making Cost Calculator

Frequently asked questions

What sells best at craft fairs?

Small handmade gifts people can pick up without a committee: jewelry, candles, soap, ornaments and other items mostly under $50, plus a few showpieces. Your niche still has to fit that event’s crowd.

Should I only bring cheap items?

No. Cheap items create lines; mid-priced items pay you. Empty-handed browsers often needed a $12 add-on, not a $200 quilt — but the quilt helps the $12 look like a deal.

Do custom orders sell at fairs?

Take deposits for later pickup. Do not promise weekend-turn custom unless you already priced rush into the quote.
