What Embroidery Price Per 1,000 Stitches Means
Shops quote “per 1k stitches” so a 12,000-stitch logo costs more than a 4,000-stitch name. It is a speedometer, not the whole invoice.

The formula
Embroidery charge = (stitch count ÷ 1,000) × your rate per 1,000 stitches. Example: 8,000 stitches at $1.25 per 1k is $10 of stitch production before the garment, backing, thread and setup.

Why a 3,000-stitch job is not “cheap”
Hooping, color changes and a sew-out do not scale down as fast as stitch count. Most shops set a per-location minimum so a tiny name still covers the stand in front of the machine.
Hats, 3D puff and dense fills
The same stitch count on a cap is slower. Puff foam and metallic thread break more. Raise the rate or add a line item instead of pretending every 1,000 stitches is identical.
