Sweaters and size changes move yardage a lot. Labor usually dominates yarn on a sweater. Gauge swatches use yarn too — optional notions line.
How this calculator works
How we calculate knitting yarn and price
- Yards with extra = needed × (1 + extra %)
- Skeins to buy = ceil(yards with extra / yards per skein)
- Yarn cost = skeins × price per skein
- Total cost = yarn + labor + notions
- Price from target margin after fees
