Total mixed ounces are split by parts resin : parts hardener. Cost uses your mixed price per ounce (or still works if you price the combined system that way).

How this calculator works

How we calculate this

  1. Resin oz = mixed × resin parts / (resin + hardener parts)
  2. Hardener oz = mixed × hardener parts / total parts
  3. Material cost = mixed oz × price per oz + pigment

Example

Example: 12 oz of a 2:1 system

8 oz resin and 4 oz hardener. At $1.40 per mixed ounce, material is $16.80 before pigment.

  • Do not mix 6 and 6 on a 2:1 kit.
  • Unmixed leftover in bottles is inventory, not this pour’s cost; mixed leftover is waste.

How much should I charge?

Add labor and mold on the resin cost calculator for a selling price.

Pricing tips

  • Follow the manufacturer’s by-weight or by-volume instruction — this split is by parts you enter.
  • Weigh when the kit says weight.

Common mistakes

  • Inverting 2:1 (too much hardener).
  • Heating a pour and not counting that electricity if you always do it.

FAQ

How do I calculate epoxy resin and hardener amounts?

Divide the mixed amount by the total parts, then multiply by each side. For 2:1 and 12 oz mixed, that is 8 oz resin and 4 oz hardener.
