Material is sheet cost times used area over sheet area. Runtime drives electricity and machine hourly cost.
Design setup is divided by jobs that will use the file.
How this calculator works
How we calculate this
- Material = sheet cost × (used area / sheet area)
- Electricity = (watts / 1000) × hours × kWh
- Machine = hours × machine hourly
- Setup each = design cost / jobs from that design
- Total = material + electricity + machine + labor + setup + waste + packaging
Example
Example: a 6×8 in cut from a 12×24 in sheet
$24 sheet, 48 / 288 of the sheet = $4.00 material. 18 minutes at 40 W, $0.15/kWh, $4/hr machine, 10 minutes labor at $22, $15 design across 10 jobs, 6% waste, $1.50 packaging.
- Material is $4.00, not $24, if leftovers are usable.
- Setup is $1.50 when spread across 10 pieces.

Pricing tips
- If offcuts are trash, put them in waste or use the full sheet cost.
- Slow engraves should show more runtime minutes.
Common mistakes
- Charging every keychain as if it used a whole sheet.
- Giving away file cleanup on a one-off name cut.
