Profit at this selling price
$14.82
Enter cost of goods and the selling price you already use. Fees are subtracted from the price before profit is calculated.
You get profit dollars, margin (of price) and markup (of cost) so you can see both views at once.
How this calculator works
How we calculate this
- Fees = price × fee % + fixed fee
- Profit = price − fees − cost
- Margin = profit / price × 100
- Markup = profit / cost × 100
Example
Example: a $38 market item
Total cost $17.60, selling price $38.00, 6.5% platform fee and 2.9% + $0.30 payments.
- Fees take several dollars off the $38.
- Profit is much smaller than $38 − $17.60.
- Margin and markup will not match — that is expected.
How much should I charge?
If profit per hour is below a wage you accept, raise the price or shorten the process. This calculator will not raise the price for you — it diagnoses the one you already have.
Pricing tips
- Include labor in cost or you will celebrate a margin that does not pay you.
- Run best-case and packing-included times.
- Compare the same item on Etsy vs in-person using different fee rates.
Common mistakes
- Calling shipping you collect “profit.”
- Leaving the listing fee out of a one-off sale.
- Using the sticker price as net revenue.
FAQ
How do I calculate craft profit?
Subtract total cost and selling fees from the price. Then divide profit by hours if you want an hourly picture.
Why is my margin lower than I expected?
Percent fees and a fixed payment fee reduce net revenue. Margin uses the full selling price in the denominator, which also makes the percentage look smaller than markup.
